Things have been going great, and I have had so many adventures in a new area!! Cedar City is gorgeous and so unique in a smaller town sort of feel. There are some cool things like institute (which is the exact same as a religion class, but ungraded!), and bongo drum people at lunch everyday, and small class sizes! So. what's been going on you may wonder? here's a countdown! (this is not in chronological order)
1: The Mouse (named Mo)
The apartment that Macy (my friend and roommate) and I moved into hadn't been occupied for a year so there were some problems. Like really nasty water that smells. Exploding microwaves. and MICE! At first, I was in denial, but then I saw one dart across the floor and could deny it not longer. One was especially fond of my room and woke me up at 5 in the morning because it was chewing on a plastic bag under my dresser! I tried to catch it with a trap because I was angry it woke me up, but it outsmarted me! Needless to say, that night I launched a war with an additional 4 traps. The result of the next morning? 2 dead mice! I even manned up and threw them in the dumpster all by myself (with 3 layers of gloves of course)!
For those of you who hate death I'm sorry, but I had to post a pic. This is the mouse that woke me up, may Mo forever rest in peace!
2: On my own again
After living with my grandparents all summer I moved into an apartment again! it was weird to be on my own at first, but now I'm totally loving it! I actually got lucky too and have a private room and bathroom even though I'm paying for a shared room. Pictures? here you go.
I love the floor plan for this apartment! And as for the double tv's? one works, one doesn't. Macy and I have some very nice friends who gave us the working, bigger one!
Here's the kitchen. There's no table, but I'm getting used to it. We also have our own washer/dryer which is so nice. No more stockpiling quarters!!
3. Band nerd once more
I have a bassoon again! after 2 long years, I picked up band once more. I am in SUU's band and we're actually playing some really cool stuff. like the Olympic fanfare, soundtrack music and my favorite Ticheli pieces! Band is like my personal jello mansion (from cloudy with a chance of meatballs). It makes me happy! Everyone plays music together and enjoys it! Its a 3 credit class, and totally worth it! BAND NERD FOREVER
4. Moss in a bowl
What have I done for fun on weekends? for starters I've worked most of them so that limits my fun, but I still have it!!! One weekend I went with some friends to an old abandoned iron mine and shot guns! lots of them. it was way fun! I shot a something 260, a 12 Gage, a .22 and another I don't remember. It was pretty fun, I definitely wasn't in Provo!
This is where we went shooting. It was gorgeous!
FUN. I felt like a country girl. and met some friends while I was at it too!!
Shout out to Macy who shot a gun for the first time and rocked at it!
The next weekend I went to the man made and fully stocked lake in Cedar with some friends. They went fishing with their bare hands! I preferred to fish watch... It was so fun. and I learned to tread water, so I won't drown! It's really quite a relief! The souvenir was a pile of mossy, plant stuff that smelt really bad for my friends fish tank! I take no credit for getting it, I just thought it was hilarious!
Exhibit A: moss in a bowl
On another note, my nursing application is in!! I"ll know around Halloween (again) what my fate is! Fingers crossed, but either way I know that things will work out for the better. Hopefully I end up wearing the tan and red scrubs next semester! At least I have my job as a CNA that I love!
To all my Provo peeps, you guys rock! It's fun to still know what's going on even though I'm not there! Also,I am sorry for the exorbitant amount of exclamation points in this entry. Life is just so exciting! and not using them is boring.
Stay cool! both literally and figuratively!
